Favorite Weekend

My favorite weekend of the year was a few weeks ago. Every Memorial Day my family enters the General Clinton Canoe Regatta. It is a 30 mile relay race on the Susquehanna River that can't be missed. My Dad entered with his crew team 39 years ago and everyone just keeps coming back. This year we entered two teams, the Blue Lining and and Red Lining and we met our goal, not to come in last. Unfortunately I hurt my back so I couldn't paddle but we had perfect weather and we couldn't have asked for more.

Sunday Adventure

What a better way to spend a Sunday than hiking! Bebeth, Mark, Sabine, and I headed up Snoqualmie Pass to hike up Denny Creak. A bridge was out so our hike was cut short but that meant more time for wings and beer when we got home. Here are two photos from our hike. Check out the rest at Bebeth and Mark's website.

Seattle Wildlife

Since I have been in Seattle I have seen some of the local wildlife. We saw a lot of huge jellyfish (some basketball size!) and Mark took a neat underwater shots of one. We also saw a whole pod of seals. 30 of them were hanging out on logs floating in the water. Some decided to come right up to the boat to check us out. It was a fun afternoon on the water!

Sabine

It has been a crazy three weeks which I will post about later. But I am now in Seattle hanging out with my favorite niece for two weeks. Check out some photos (click on the photo below) of her and you will understand why I think she is the cutest.

We made it!

Spring has finally arrived in Ann Arbor and another term has come to an end. That means we have made it through our first year in Ann Arbor! We are 1/3 through our time in Ann Arbor, Courtney is 1/5 of the way through her program, Arthur is off to the B school next year, we got a cat (and kept her more than three months), and enjoyed our first year here. There were some ups and downs, many challenges, lots of learning, and lots of fun. We took advantage of all that Ann Arbor had to offer and now it is time to head East for the summer.

Globalization

No matter what field you are in these days the buzz word is globalization. It is an elusive word that no one can pin down or be sure what it really means. People frequently use it as a negative term. But today I am going to show a positive side of it. I stumbled on this and I thought I would share. Enjoy!

Congrats to the Grad!

A big shout out to my brother Mark, who just graduated from business school. Not only that, he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma society (b school's version of phi betta kappa, you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_Gamma_Sigma).

Here's a quick video of him being "knighted" (the official term?) and given a stole (the ribbon that gets worn over the graduation gown). Now he's off to do what all of us truly wish that we could do: travel! Nice job big bro!
